Volunteer

Volunteers are the essential element in our KIDS ON THE BLOCK programme. As a volunteer puppeteer, you are trained to be an integral part of a troupe of individuals committed to the delivery of our disability awareness and acceptance programme.

Puppeteers
Are you looking for a volunteer opportunity that provides the winning combination of puppets and kids? Join our puppeteer troupe - no experience needed! Discover the joy of animating these interesting puppet characters for eager young audiences. You'll love the reaction you get from the children. Training in puppetry skills (based on the Japanese art of Bunraku puppetry) is provided throughout the year. Requirements include a strong speaking voice, upper body strength and a love for performing. There is a fair amount of physical exertion required so strong arms and knee joints are a definite advantage. You provide the enthusiasm!
  • No experience necessary
  • Training and puppets provided
  • Scripts written by education and health care professionals
